Hikers visit Henry Clay Furnace #4583
The Henry Clay Furnace, which was built in 1834-36, is one of the unique destinations for hikers to visit at Coopers Rock State Forest near Masontown, W.Va., as these fathers and sons did on April 20, 2022.
A cold blast furnace built by Leonard Lamb, it had a capacity of four tons pig iron per day and furnished employment for 200 people.
