Aaron Yoder homecoming in Elkhart, Indiana

Army Sgt. Aaron Yoder of Elkhart, Ind., and his family pray together during a ceremony at Osolo Township Fire Department on June 23, 2012, two-and-a-half months after Yoder had been shot in the leg while protecting his bomb-sniffing dog Bart during a firefight in Afghanistan. More than 350 people greeted Yoder at South Bend Regional Airport before local police departments and Indiana Patriot Guard Riders escorted Yoder and his family to Osolo. In the foreground is the "Osolo Fire Department Project 9-11: America’s Heartland Remembers” memorial.
