West Virginia State Parks and Forests

85 images Created 9 Sep 2023

West Virginia landscape photography in the Mountain State's 35 parks and nine forests offers photographers infinite options.

Coopers Rock State Forest is a favorite destination of mine, and it did not take me long to realize the joy of hiking and creating images in West Virginia's largest state forest after moving to Morgantown, W.Va., in 2016.

As you pass the overhead sign when you enter Coopers Rock, "located just off I-68, about 13 miles from Morgantown, the park features canyon overlooks, historical sites, picnic shelters, 50 miles of hiking and biking trails, sandstone cliffs for climbing and bouldering, cross-country ski terrain, a lake perfect for reeling in trout and a nearby river for rafting," according to WVStateParks.com.

Including both West Virginia landscape photography and West Virginia outdoor photography, this gallery contains images from the state parks and forests that I have visited:

• Blackwater Falls State Park
• Coopers Rock State Forest
• Valley Falls State Park
• Audra State Park
• Babcock State Park

Prints are available, as are rights-managed downloads. I am also available for assignment.
