Welcome, I'm Mark Shephard, a West Virginia photographer home-based in Morgantown, W.Va., and I look forward to our collaboration.
When working as a family and wedding photographer I am privileged to be able to capture everlasting memories for my clients. I would consider myself to be a traditional photog who aims to document the "decisive moment," sees the big picture as well as the details, and seeks to be a visual storyteller.
I studied visual communication at Ohio University, served as a Photographer's Mate in the U.S. Navy, and worked as a newspaper photojournalist before starting my own business in the Michiana area around South Bend, Ind., which was home before my wife, Jennifer, and I moved to the Cheat Lake area of Morgantown in 2016.
My life as a Morgantown photographer began when I was taken on as a correspondent for the Dominion Post, the newspaper in Morgantown. It was a good transitional gig as it allowed me to become familiar with the area. I continue to wear the hat when called upon to be a freelance photojournalist in West Virginia.
It was with great pleasure working as a West Virginia wedding photographer for the first time in the summer of 2016; Allysan and Alex enjoyed a wonderful wedding day at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia. And I am thankful to other couples and families who have let me document their big days and loving lives since those first days working as a Morgantown photographer in W.Va., Pa., and Maryland.
Working as a West Virginia photographer along the borderlands with Pennsylvania and Maryland has helped me to realize that this part of life's journey is just beginning. I look forward to my days as a wedding photographer who gets to work with clients who choose the great outdoors as their sanctuary. I say this because I have come to love nature and landscape photography, and can't wait until the day arrives when I become an outdoor wedding photographer at Coopers Rock State Forest and so many other locations I have explored and photographed.
I offer a wide variety of wedding photography packages and am familiar with the many wedding photography styles. The same may be said about family photography. Whether you're seeking a documentary-style family & kids photography session, family portraits with location lighting, or graduation and senior portraits, I'll work with you to realize your vision.
I also continue to offer my services as a business photographer in Morgantown, West Virginia, Southwest Pennsylvania, and beyond. I've had a unique blend of business, commercial, and corporate clients since 2000.
I encourage you to look around my site to get a better feeling of who I am as a business & commercial photographer, family & wedding photographer, freelance photojournalist, landscape & nature photographer, and portrait photographer.
Thanks for visiting. I hope to work with you soon!
