Appalachian culture and history is distinct and its roots are deeper than the settlers who have made the Appalachian slopes their homes within the last two centuries plus.

With Morgantown, W.Va., being my home, I respect the fact that Mountaineers have carved their heritage out of a difficult wilderness, as many Appalachians have done in the past.
